For the Generator Technology Developement Team we are looking for an experienced Specialist Structural Engineer for designing direct drive generators for our turbine platforms.

 

What are my responsibilities?

As a Specialist Structural Engineer, you will develop direct drive generator structure topologies and designs using advanced FE- and analytical modelling tools. You will participate in and lead R&D projects and work closely with your multi-disciplined colleagues in realizing the final generator solutions.

In addition, your responsibilities will cover:

• Work closely with our Global based Generator Design Team
• Support, develop and validate new simulation tools for structural design
• Participation in full-scale performance testing of multi MW class generators
• Participating in R&D projects, including preparing technical specifications
• Tracking sub-supplier processes
• Supporting our the generator production lines

 

In this position you can expect some travel activities.

 

What do I need to qualify for this job?

• You have a PhD or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (experience gained in industry R&D is equally applicable) with focus on structural analysis of large structures (preferably electrical machines) with particular attention for the accurate estimation in vibration and tonal analysis. Experience in modal, fatigue and strength testing is also required.
• Knowledge of standard industry software for analytical data analysis and finite element modelling
• You have a structured and focused approach to your assignments, also when working under pressure
• You are innovative and dedicated to develop current and future technologies
• Experience in Team Centre and in electrical machines would be an advantage
• You thrive in a multicultural environment and are a dedicated team player who knows how to utilize the experience of the team
• You have excellent communication skills and can interface with numerous parties
• You possess fluency in both spoken and written English
