Mechanical System Architect - Siemens Gamesa Denmark £Negotiable Permanent

We are currently working with one of the worlds' largest Wind Turbine manufacturers - Siemens Gamesa, who are looking to add a Mechanical System Architect to the team in Denmark. This role will be working on the current and future turbines. 

 

The Mechanical system architect is responsible to drive wind turbine layout through the concept phase considering all variables and stakeholders across the organization. The main responsibility is to ensure that the same mechanical layout approach is used across all modules to ensure a safe, cost effective, service and installation friendly design.
Area of responsibility:
• Concept development and mechanical engineering design • Drive wind turbine layout to ensure a safe, cost effective, service and installation friendly design • Integration of relevant requirements from legislations and standards • Execution of concept reviews with stakeholders and implementation of stakeholder inputs • Work with technical design documentation such as D-FMEA, EHS Design Risk Assessment and Design Decision Logs • Collaboration with stakeholders throughout the value chain like Prototype Workshop, Procurement, Service, Installation, EHS • Work with simple structural calculations using analytical methods and Finite Element Analysis • Work with 3D modeling using NX • Participate in prototype assembly in workshop and implement lessons learned • Work with design improvements, cost outs etc.
Qualifications & Competences:
• A bachelor or master´s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, with minimum 15 years of experience within product development and mechanical design engineering. • A craftsman background as e.g. Smith, Industrial technician or Auto mechanic will be an advantage • Knowledge and experience with structural calculations are preferred • Experience with NX PLM, Teamcenter PLM and the Machinery directive 2006/42/EC is an advantage • Experience with Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS) is an advantage • Self-starter, structured and pro-active problem solver that work well both independently and in teams • High degree of personal planning and able to meet deadlines • Possess strong communication skills in English, orally and in writing
